Media Impact

I can specifically remember a certain time when one of my friends blamed the media for making her fat. (She really wasn't fat by all means). But she stated that while watching TV and being on her usual diet that a commercial for a fast food of some sort would come on television and make her want to eat fast food. In the end she eventually gave in and ate the food. She blames the media, of all sorts on making her eat it. She then proceeded to complain about how she is ruining her diet. After complaining about her ruined diet she proceeds to to ignorantly state that the media is what is making America fat because they commercialize fast food so much and that it's all their fault. I, in my mind am thinking "are you serious?!" You CHOOSE to eat it!
Personally, I feel that it is solely her fault for letting her bring herself to actually eating it. Im a person of will power and if i strive for something I AM GOING TO GET IT. At the end of the day, you are the only person who will have to look in the mirror and reflect upon yourself.
Im not too sure if there are any links pertaining to this problem or any videos of the sort.

  1. Good example. Some people say there should be more ads for fruits and veggies, but would that work? I think it's much more about the addictive power of the fat and sugar and many people's inability to resist.
