Propaganda in Advertising/PR

  • Beautiful people
The type of propaganda that deals with famous people or depicts attractive, happy people. This makes other people think that if they buy a product or follow a certain ideology, they too will be happy or successful. (This is more used in advertising for products, instead of political reasons)
A half-truth is a deceptive statement which may come in several forms and includes some element of truth. The statement might be partly true, the statement may be totally true but only part of the whole truth, or it may utilize some deceptive element, such as improper punctuation, or double meaning, especially if the intent is to deceive, evade blame or misrepresent the truth.

Beautiful People- This need not be explained. David and Victoria Beckham are without a doubt some of the most beautiful people on the face of this planet. Them advertising underwear is a perfect combination. I myself have single handedly bought a pair of Emporio Armani underwear just because of this advertisement. With them being in the advertisement it gives the some-what false illusion that if you wear the underwear you can be attractive and sexy like the Beckhams.

Half-Truth- Although there is no word statement in this advertisement, it definitely exudes a half truth. The half truth being that maybe if you wore the underwear you would look like that. Or if you were to wear the underwear you could have a girl like Victoria Beckham. Reality is you COULD look/have someone like them but only REALISTICALLY if you were in shape like them.
